Learn upholstery at your own pace in the inspiring setting of Bishton Hall. These small, friendly workshops are designed for beginners and improvers to work on personal furniture projects with expert guidance. The flexible drop-in format lets you book single sessions or save with discounted blocks—ideal for fitting creative learning around your schedule. Class Essentials 🗓 When: Fridays, 9:30am–3:30pm 📍 Where: Bishton Hall Mansion, Staffordshire 👥 Class Size: Maximum 3 students for dedicated one-to-one tuition 🎟 Booking: Book single sessions here (click the 'Book Now' button) 🍰 Perks: 10% off at Sparrow's Tea Room and plentiful tea, coffee and biscuits in the studio. Your Project Bring your own chair or footstool and receive step-by-step guidance in traditional and modern techniques. Choose from two paths: • Recovering: Focus on replacing top fabric for pieces with sound internal stuffing. • Full Re-upholstery: Strip to the frame and rebuild - deeply satisfying, and a wonderful way to more fully understand upholstery techniques. Project Guide • Beginner: Dining chair pads, footstools, or small covered chairs. • Intermediate: Nursing chairs and small armchairs • Advanced: Wingback chairs (typically require 6-8 sessions) Return for as many sessions as you need to finish your piece to a professional standard. What to Bring and Prepare • Furniture: Bring your own project piece (Katie will request a photo after booking to check suitability) • Preparation: Arriving with your piece already stripped helps you progress faster, though you may strip it during class time • Materials: Bring your top fabric. Tool hire and basic sundries are included. Foam, hessian, and other internal materials are available at student rates.
